ALESSANDRO SAFINA, an international singing star, performs a distinctive and entertaining concert.  You will hear his beauatiful Italian tenor voice in all the favorite traditional Italian songs, with a nod to Mario Lanza and the Neopolitan repertoire.  But the great Italian traditions turn into the exciting presentation of his international hits that so brilliantly blend his glorious Italian tenor voice with 21st century POP music.  His roots are in Italian Opera but with his exceptional talents, has sung and recorded with Elton John, Rod Stewart and Sarah Brightman to name a few.  He brings his life experiences to the concert stage with matchless talent, beauty, charm  and pure joy.   An evening not to be missed!

The Italian tenor, Alessandro Safina – born in Siena – discovered his passion for singing at very early age and began studying music at 9 years of age.  He attended Conservatorio di Musica 'Luigi Cherubini' in Florence.  He was soon performing the leading parts on many famous European stages. In 1989, he won the first prize at the 'Concorso Lirico Internazionale' in Mantova, a competition dedicated to Italian soprano singer Katia Ricciarelli.

Opera credits include ‘Rodolfo’, in Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème, alongside Katia Ricciarelli. Paisiello's Il Barbiere Di Siviglia (Marseille & The Barbican in London, Teatro Bibiena in Mantova); I Capuleti E Montecchi (Basel) L'Elisir D'Amore (Strasbourg) as Vladimir Lenski in the opera Eugenio Onieghin (Teatro Massimo in Palermo); Rusalk (Wexford International Festival in Ireland.)

Alessandro was not only inspired by the legendary tenor Enrico Caruso, but also contemporary musicians U2, Genesis, Depeche Mode and The Clash.  He began a successful collaboration with renowned Italian pianist and composer Romano Musumarra.  Their first album together is INSIEME A TE was premiered live at the famous Olympia theatre in Paris followed by a performance at The Night Of The Proms in the Netherlands. His single LUNA stayed at the top of the charts for 14 weeks.   INSIEME A TE was eventually released in over 30 countries, received gold in Brazil and Taiwan and became four times platinum in The Netherlands within a few months.  Other solo albums include SOGNAMI,  MUSICA DI TE and a new release DEDICATED which includes the theme from The Godfather: parla più piano.

Alesandro’s solo concert “Only You” was filmed live at the El Greco Amphitheatre in Taormina for PBS (DVD). He was the special guest in Sarah Brightman's concert Symphony in Vienna for PBS, also available on DVD.

He has toured internationally including Italy, the Netherlands, several European countries, Brazil, US (Radio City Music Hall), (Seoul – Soccer World Cup performance), Russia, Qatar, Istanbul, Byblos, Israel, Romania Ukraine and other CIS countries, Lebanon, Mexico, Colombia, Taiwan. Latvia, UAE, Turkey and Rotterdam to sold out audiences.  His other engagements include concerts at the Vatican, for the Pope, concerts in Tegelen and Maastricht.

Safina performed alongside Elton John, Cher and Jennifer Lopez for Queen Elizabeth at the 73rd Royal Variety Performance, performing Andrew Lloyd Webber's MUSIC OF THE NIGHT.  He performed in concert with José Carreras in Rotterdam and Mario Frangoulis in Athens.  He performed as special guest with Sarah Brightman on her Mexican tour and for 21 concerts in seven Asian countries.  He toured with Sumi Jo for her new album throughout South Korea.

Throughout his career, Alessandro returned to his opera routes to perform in several Italian productions.

He made his feature film debut, playing the painter Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca E Altre Due, a movie based on Giacomo Puccini's opera Tosca.

Alessandro received the Mario Lanza trophy, as a worldwide ambassador of Italy's 'Musica Lyrica'.  The 'Murex D'Or' award for 'Best International Artist' was presented to Alessandro in Beirut, Lebanon.  He received the 'Solo Star' trophy during the presentation of the 'Man of the Year' awards in Kiev, Ukraine and was honored with the award for 'Popularizer Of Classical Music' during the 'Armenia Music Awards' in the Kremlin of Moscow.  He is immortalized with his hand prints in concrete for Europe's largest star boulevard, Rotterdam's Walk Of Fame in The Netherlands.
